Tipping the scales towards a higher awareness of Justice
"Tipping the Scales to a Higher Level of Awareness" will benefit the Broward Human Rights Initiative, and will be held from 7:00pm to 11:00pm the evening of Saturday, October 13, 2007, at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. In the Marks Gallery you will have the opportunity to view paintings of the CoBra Collection, which is part of the permanent collection of MOA, and the evening will be beautifully brought together with lounge music, a video history of discrimination from Stonewall through today, accented with great food and open bar cocktails.  The event will be hosted by the Communion Foundation.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the BHRI of Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc.

The Broward Human Rights Initiative (BHRI) is designed to protect the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons in Broward County through legal representation, community education & community mobilization. It is a program of Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc. and is funded in part by the John C. Graves Charitable Fund and the Community Foundation of Broward.  BHRI will promote understanding and acceptance of GLBT residents of Broward County by educating the public and legal community about discrimination and promoting fair treatment through progressive public policy. Ultimately, through impact litigation, public policy advocacy, public education and collaborations with other social justice organizations & activists and direct legal services, we seek to advance the legal and human rights of GLBT persons throughout our community.
