"The majority of Americans do not support 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Miramar, was in the national news this week talking about the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell'' policy about gays. Hastings, like President Obama, says it's time to get rid of that policy.

"The majority of Americans do not support 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,'' he says in this video clip below.

He introduced an amendment into a bill that would have prevented the government from spending money to kick gays out of the military. But he withdrew it the next day, saying he was pressured by his colleagues and the White House to do so.
