Dolphin Dems Host Sheriff Scott Israel

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel was the main speaker at the Dolphin Democrats’ October 11 General Membership Meeting, held at the main meeting room of the Pride Center at Equality Park.

Sheriff Israel was introduced by Dolphins Board member Tim Hart. The Sheriff spoke about his achievements regarding non-violent offenders, juvenile offenders and bringing diversity to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. He also gave his views on White Supremacist Groups, the recent Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting, and gun control. NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY!

As a chartered member of the Florida LGBTA caucus, the Dolphin Democrats are proud to stand with our brothers and sisters on National Coming Out Day!

Today we celebrate those who have had the courage to come out and we also offer our support to those who have yet to take that step. It is demanding equal justice for our community from our elected officials that ensures we all have a seat at the table.

The President of the Dolphin Democrats, Mr. Scott Herman,  has appointed 3 new Board members
Nik Harris – Appointed to Director, to be elected by the general membership on or after the November, 2017 subject to a quorum for the term expiring in February, 2019.
Brad Bonds – Appointed to Director, to be elected by the general membership on or after the November, 2017 subject to a quorum for the term expiring in February, 2019.
John Murdock – Appointed to Parliamentarian for the Board give consent of the appointment at the next Board of Directors meeting.

The Dolphin Democrats remember the Pulse Nightclub Massacre

It has now been over one year ago today the world woke up to a nightmare.

We offer support to the survivors, acknowledging some feel guilty, at fault or coping with the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. We know family and friends are still suffering pain and loss of innocence.

We extend gratitude to the first responders, law enforcement, emergency personnel, medical teams and all volunteers that gave aid and comfort. To the hospitals and local businesses that took the lead in rendering medical care, we say thank you.

Our hearts go out to those in eternal sleep. You are not forgotten.

One year later Florida’s LGBTAQ and Latinx communities stand united and stronger. There is new life and a new dawn. Cynicism and vulnerability are erased by hope, dreams, passion and emotion and a call for action is renewed.

We move forward stronger and united together.
