Where: The Westin Diplomat Resort, 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, Florida 33019 Keynote Speaker: The Florida Democratic Party is pleased to welcome Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick as the keynote speaker for the 2011 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. First elected in 2006 on a platform of hope and change, Governor Patrick entered office propelled by an unprecedented grassroots campaign. Despite a challenging economic environment, the Patrick administration maintained or expanded the state’s investment in critical growth sectors while delivering timely budgets and cutting state spending. Governor Patrick funded public education at the highest levels in the history of the Commonwealth. In 2010, Governor Patrick won reelection with a focus on common sense solutions to bring jobs to his state. His leadership in implementing Massachusetts' landmark health care reform law now serves as the national model for bringing affordable health insurance to all Americans. Governor Patrick's second term brings a renewed commitment to expanding opportunity and prosperity in Massachusetts and a state commitment to renewing aging and neglected infrastructure. The Patrick administration also accomplished major reforms that had eluded decades of other elected leadership, reforming the state’s pension systems, ethics laws, and transportation bureaucracy.
